Genelco Software Solutions develops Web-enabled software for life, health, annuity and reinsurance administration. Genelco has more than 200 client sites and serves domestic, international and multinational insurers worldwide.

One of Genelco's flagship applications is Genelco Life+™, a comprehensive administration system for traditional and non-traditional processing of individual life and health insurance, annuities, variable and unit-linked products for insurance carriers and financial services organizations worldwide. Genelco Life+™ runs on the IBM^® System i (formerly iSeries or AS/400) platform, a proven scalable midrange computer. The System i along with Genelco Life+™ provides insurance carriers a strategic business solution for rapid introduction of new products, low administration costs, increased productivity and enhanced customer service levels.

When Genelco finalized the license of Genelco Life+™ to the international Sino-Japanese insurance joint venture, Nissay-SVA Life Insurance Co., Ltd, they needed to enhance their application for use with double-byte character set (DBCS) data. A process known as DBCS enablement is required to allow applications running on the System i platform to be able to process ideographic data. Due to a tight deadline and an absolute need to deliver a fully functional product to a critical client, Genelco did extensive research and due diligence to find a partner with the experience and capabilities to assist them.

Interpro Translation Solutions was selected by Genelco to enable Genelco Life+™ to display, input, and process ideographic character set data for use in China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. The entire project took just under four months and was executed using a combination of Interpro's specially developed DBCS enablement tools along with traditional DBCS programming techniques. Interpro localized the Genelco Life+™ screens, reports, and error messages from English into Simplified Chinese, as well as the product's front-end web portal, called Genelco LifeView™. Interpro also translated selected components of Genelco Life+™ into Japanese.
