A Consulting Engineer Finds a Home with Interpro
In 1999, I was working as a software engineer at a consulting firm closely affiliated with Interpro Translation Solutions. At the time, Interpro was growing quickly and needed technical help with a few localization engineering tasks. I was asked to assist, just temporarily. That temporary role turned into joining the Interpro team for a decades-long career, and I’ve never looked back.
Those early days gave me a front-row seat to the challenges and opportunities of localization technology. I was hooked by the technical complexity, the global impact of the work, and Interpro’s drive to create real solutions for real clients.

Tackling Tough Problems in the Dot-Com Boom
At the height of the dot-com era, a fast-scaling Silicon Valley tech firm had a challenge: they needed to localize their entire website into multiple languages but were facing persistent technical roadblocks. They had a contract with one of the largest translation agencies, but even that team couldn’t resolve the issues.
That’s when Interpro was brought in. I was embedded as a consultant for just one week. With long days, late nights, and weekend hours, we worked side-by-side with the client to overcome every hurdle. Thanks to Interpro’s software expertise and agility, the client successfully launched their multilingual site on time.
The project was a defining moment that showcased what makes Interpro different: we’re not just a translation company; we’re partners in solving complex localization problems.
Going for Gold: Localizing the IBM 2000 Olympics Website
One of the most exciting projects I’ve been part of was when one of the world’s largest tech companies was sponsoring the 2000 Olympic Games. They needed a fully localized website to serve a global audience in real time. Interpro was selected to lead the website localization effort.
Not only did we successfully launch the multilingual website, but we also kept it current throughout the Games, updating content across languages as events unfolded. It was a huge achievement and a testament to the collaborative spirit and technical skill that define Interpro’s work.
Whether it’s localizing a global sports event or managing translation services for enterprise clients, our goal has always been the same: deliver accurate, culturally relevant content that performs on time and at scale.
Partnerships that Endure and Evolve
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is building lasting partnerships. For example, a global leader in digital supply chain transformation approached Interpro for help optimizing its internal localization processes. Despite having its own in-house localization team, they wanted guidance on how to streamline the translation and localization operations, improve turnaround time, and ensure linguistic accuracy across markets.
We began with annual on-site visits, meeting directly with their team, assessing workflows, and providing tailored recommendations. Over time, this evolved into an ongoing strategic partnership. Whether it’s advising on XML translation or systems integration, Interpro remains their trusted partner for scalable, customized solutions.

Building Localization Solutions from the Ground Up
In the early days of eLearning localization, authoring tools weren’t exactly localization friendly. One client came to us with a custom authoring tool for a course and scheduled an immediate in-person meeting to evaluate our capabilities.
Within a single day, we understood the course structure and created a repeatable process to generate multilingual versions. That work laid the foundation for how we now handle Storyline translation, Rise translation, and other rapid authoring tools. Our team has since localized hundreds of eLearning modules, enabling companies to educate and empower employees worldwide.

From 1999 to Today: Innovation, Teamwork, and Purpose
More than two decades later, I’m still driven by the same passion of solving complex problems and making a global impact. Whether we’re helping a client with subtitle translation, InDesign translation, or developing new engineering workflows, our work at Interpro is all about enabling global communication.
Being part of Interpro’s 30-year journey has been an honor. The talent, creativity, and dedication of this team continues to inspire me every day.
